Enhancing the community’s resilience
The project encourages local community networks of District Sanghar, Mirpur Khan and Umerkot to hold forums, meetings, and networking activities to discuss the challenges of community resilience. The forums and subjects promote discussion around problems of frequent flooding, impacts of climate changes and access to services and basic facilities or infrastructure and other social and economic subjests. This will also encourage debates on other day-to-day issues in the communities. These discussions will enhance understanding of communities on local knowledge, community networks, communication, governance and resources. This helps to create a platform for advocacy and lobbying to push the authorities to resolve these issues and problems the communities are facing. This process will enable the communities to achieve the goal of community resilience to share information, knowledge and resources.
These districts have a high level of poverty as a consequence of regular floods or droughts, besides a reduction in demand for an agricultural labor force. Most of the poor communities are living in improper, inadequate, and indecent houses. conditions.
