Sewage Treatment Plant Qublai Khan – EIA Report

The Sewage Treatment Plant project at Qublai Khan, Karachi, is a joint initiative undertaken by the Defence Housing Authority and the Cantonment Board Clifton. This plant is designed to treat and remove sewage generated from DHA Phase-V and its extensions, with a capacity of 2.0 million gallons per day. The project aims to improve wastewater management and sanitation in these areas, thereby reducing environmental pollution and protecting public health.

The STP will be located near Sea View Beach, directly adjacent to the McDonald’s outlet, a popular and busy recreational spot in the city. Due to the sensitivity of the site, a thorough environmental assessment is essential to identify and mitigate any potential adverse impacts on the local climate and landscape. Comprehensive mitigation measures will be implemented to prevent or minimize environmental damage. This project falls under Schedule-II of the SEPA (Review of IEE and EIA) Regulations, 2014, requiring a full Environmental Impact Assessment.
