National Resettlement Policy 2002

In March 2002, the Government of Pakistan’s Ministry of Environment developed the National Resettlement Policy to address the challenges posed by the Land Acquisition Act of 1894. This policy aims to ensure that individuals and communities displaced due to development projects are adequately compensated and rehabilitated, promoting sustainable livelihoods and social well-being. It emphasizes the importance of minimizing adverse impacts, restoring income levels, and involving affected populations in the resettlement process.
