Proposed 100 MW Wind Power Project – EIA Report

Proposed 100 MW Wind Power Project – EIA Report examines the environmental and socio-economic aspects of developing a wind energy facility by NBT Wind Power Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. Located in the Gharo–Keti Bunder Wind Corridor near Dhabeji, approximately 65 km from Karachi, the project spans around 800 hectares of arid land. The wind farm will be developed in two phases—Phase I includes installation of 33 wind turbines to generate 50 MW, and Phase II will add another 33 turbines, increasing the total capacity to 100 MW. The initiative supports clean energy transition goals, backed by a Letter of Intent from the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB).

The EIA covers detailed assessments of site conditions including land use, topography, biodiversity, and air quality. It outlines potential impacts during construction and operation, and proposes mitigation measures, monitoring frameworks, and stakeholder engagement plans. The project aligns with national environmental regulations and international best practices, ensuring that development is both sustainable and compliant. This assessment provides a critical foundation for informed decision-making by authorities, developers, and local communities.
