On 17 January 2024, the Urban Resource Center organized a public forum titled “Assessment of the Obstacles Faced in Resettlement of Victims After Forced Eviction,” featuring speakers Advocate Abeera Ashfaq and Arif Hasan. The discussion focused on the legal, social, and administrative challenges that arise in the aftermath of forced evictions, particularly in urban areas. Drawing on case studies and field experiences, the speakers highlighted the disconnect between policy and ground realities, the inadequacy of resettlement plans, and the vulnerability of displaced communities. The forum called attention to the urgent need for rights-based, inclusive, and sustainable resettlement strategies.
