Transmission Line from Lalazar to Mauripur – EIA Report
Transmission Line from Lalazar to Mauripur EIA Report evaluates the potential environmental and socio-economic impacts of a critical infrastructure upgrade aimed at enhancing Karachi’s power supply system. The project includes two components: the replacement of existing 220 kV underground transmission lines from Lalazar Grid Station to the ICI Bridge PLDP tower, and the replacement of 132 kV lines from Queens Road Grid Station to the Old Town Grid Station in Kharadar. Each segment spans approximately 4 km in length and addresses deteriorating cable infrastructure that has surpassed its operational lifespan.
The project is essential for reducing the risk of major power outages in key areas of Karachi, including the densely populated and commercially significant Old Town. The existing infrastructure has been deemed faulty and at risk of failure, posing serious threats to consistent energy delivery. By modernizing these underground lines, K-Electric aims to improve transmission reliability, minimize energy loss, and ensure a stable electricity supply for thousands of residents and businesses.
