On 21 July 2010, the Urban Resource Center hosted a forum titled “Waste Management Issues in the City – Problems and Solutions,” with Fareed Awan as the speaker. The forum addressed the growing challenge of waste disposal in Karachi, focusing on the inefficiencies in waste collection, poor sanitation infrastructure, and the environmental impacts of improper waste management. Fareed Awan discussed the urgent need for comprehensive waste management systems, better civic engagement, and policy reforms to address these issues. The session emphasized sustainable solutions, such as recycling programs and the development of waste-to-energy technologies.
