On 16 January 2019, the Urban Resource Center organized a forum titled “Demolition of Shops and Homes in Karachi – Alternative Plans and Recommendations,” featuring speakers Arif Hussain, Taj Haider, and Anhooni Naveed. The forum addressed the challenges posed by the demolition of shops and homes for urban development projects and explored alternative strategies to minimize displacement. The speakers proposed solutions such as better relocation plans, fair compensation, and more inclusive urban policies to ensure that development does not harm local businesses or residents.
