HESCO 6th STG Project – EIA Report
HESCO 6th STG Project Environmental and Social Assessment focuses on enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and quality of electricity supply within the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) network. The 6th Secondary Transmission Grid (STG) project spans five years and includes the construction of fifteen new grid stations, conversion of seven, augmentation of nineteen, rehabilitation of 216, and extension of ten existing grid stations. Additionally, it covers the installation of 451 km of new transmission lines and the rehabilitation of 2,980 km of existing lines to reduce losses and improve voltage stability across the region.
HESCO 6th STG Project Environmental and Social Assessment** specifically addresses the 2006–07 components, including four new grid stations, conversion of four, extension of one, and 111 km of new transmission lines. The project area, situated in the agriculturally rich central alluvial plain of the Lower Indus Basin, spans multiple districts in Sindh including Hyderabad, Larkana, and Mirpur Khas. This region, once part of the thorn forest ecozone, is now predominantly agricultural and heavily influenced by the Indus Basin Irrigation System.
