Stormwater Drains in Karachi – Issues and Proposals

On 18 September 2013, the Urban Resource Center hosted a forum titled “Stormwater Drains in Karachi – Issues and Proposals,” with Saleem Aleemuddin as the speaker. The forum discussed the ongoing problems related to Karachi’s stormwater drainage system, including poor infrastructure, encroachments, and the city’s vulnerability to flooding during the monsoon season. Saleem Aleemuddin highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive planning and investment in upgrading and maintaining the drainage system. He proposed solutions such as improving urban drainage infrastructure, clearing encroachments, and better city-wide flood management strategies to mitigate the impact of heavy rains.
