The People Who Make the City Safe and Clean

On 16 March 2022, the Urban Resource Center hosted a public forum titled “The People Who Make the City Safe and Clean – Struggles and Professional Challenges,” with Naeem Sadiq as the speaker. The forum focused on the lives and challenges of sanitation workers and other professionals who play a vital role in keeping the city clean and safe. Naeem Sadiq highlighted the often-overlooked struggles these workers face, including low wages, lack of protective gear, social stigma, and inadequate working conditions. The discussion also stressed the need for better policies to ensure fair wages, job security, and respect for these essential workers. The session concluded with a call for increased recognition and improved working conditions to support those who contribute to the city’s cleanliness and safety.
