On 09 August 2015, the Urban Resource Center organized a forum titled “The Rickshaw Ban – The Position of the Rickshaw Association,” featuring speakers Syed Safdar Shah and A.A. Wahdi. The forum discussed the implications of the ban on Chingchi rickshaws in Karachi and presented the stance of the Rickshaw Association. Syed Safdar Shah and A.A. Wahdi highlighted the challenges faced by rickshaw drivers, including livelihood concerns, and argued for alternative solutions to address traffic and environmental issues while safeguarding the interests of these drivers. The session concluded with recommendations for better regulation of the sector rather than an outright ban.
